Ringwood MG- The OG Squad
We all know there’s no substitute for age and quality. Would you rather have an 18-year-old single malt or an 8-year-old blended? Spend your time watching a classic show like M*A*S*H or a trashy reality show?
So why would it be any different when choosing your new car? You want an established, renowned, reliable car brand, with a history and a reputation for quality and performance. You want an MG. And to help you choose the MG that’s right for you, you need a dealership that’s been around a long time, and has the benefit of years of experience and insider knowledge. You need Ringwood MG.
A history of excellence
MG’s story begins all the way back in 1924 when the Octagon badge was registered and the company’s first sports car, the Old Number One, was produced. It was small, fast, and fun to drive- a revelation compared to the slow, boxy battleships clogging the roads.
Fast forward to the 1930s and MG were making their mark on the racing world. They started at Brooklands, the world’s first banked concrete racetrack, breaking the stranglehold Bentley previously had on the event. Flummoxed by the smaller, more agile MGs, Bentley drivers complained that they’d been ‘invaded by bees.’
Through the rest of the decade, MG dominated racing events throughout Europe. They won the Irish Grand Prix, the Isle of Man Tourer’s Trophy, and the Ulster TT. They also took wins against Germany and Monaco, then capped it off by making history as the first non-Italian team to win in Italy.
In 1957 MG made history again as one of their cars was used to break the land speed record. Motorsports legend Sir Stirling Moss took an MG to 395km/h, 20% faster than the previous record. 1975 was a banner year as the one-millionth MG was built, a unique roadster.
In 2017 MG showed that the MG badge meant practicality and safety as well as speed and performance - MG produced the first Chinese-manufactured vehicle to be awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating. In 2021 MG’s global spread continued as they broke into the top-10 selling automotive brands in Australia for the first time.
